The Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C., is among the departments that have sent delegates to Israel. Charles H. Ramsey served as Chief of the Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department between 1998 and 2007. Paul A. Quander, Jr. served as Deputy Mayor for Public Safety and Justice from 2012, up until his death in 2016. Chief Ramsay attended a training in Israel in 2005 organized by Chuck Wexler, the executive director of the Police Executive Research Forum. Deputy Major Quander attended a training in Israel with the AJC as a delegate of Project Interchange in 2011. His trip included a stop at Gilboa Prison, where Palestinians remain imprisoned by Israeli occupation authorities against international law.
